Must-Pack Items for Your Caribbean Beach Vacation

When it comes to the ultimate in relaxing vacation destinations, it’s hard to beat what the Caribbean has to offer tourists. Businessmen like Louis Hernandez Jr love it and it is not at all difficult to understand why. There are a large number of islands to choose from, each with their own unique flair, culture, sights, and experience. No matter which island you choose for your vacation, there are a few key must-pack items that you’ll want to throw in your suitcase to help ensure you have the best and most relaxing time possible. Let’s take a closer look.

Plenty of Sun Protection

The main reason people book a vacation in the Caribbean is because of the fabulous weather. With that said it’s likely that you plan on spending the majority of your time outdoors either at the pool, the beach, or exploring the island. This means you’ll be getting a fair amount of sun each and every day, probably more than you are used to on a regular daily basis. It’s best to plan for this exposure and make sure you pack plenty of sun protection.

Sun protection of course means packing SPF sunscreen for your face and body, but also items such as the classic Tilley sun hat that keeps the sun off your head and out of your eyes, sunglasses with UVB and UVA protection, a light long-sleeved top or sweater in case you get burnt and want to protect your skin, and soothing and hydrating lotion such as Aloe Vera just in case you do end up with sunburn.

A Couple of Swimsuits

While you don’t want to over-pack, you also want to be sure you bring the essentials. It’s usually a good idea to bring a couple of swimsuits so that you always have one that is dry that you can slip into. Swimsuits take up very little space in the suitcase, and you can roll them to create even less bulk.

Beach Appropriate Footwear

You will also want to think about beach appropriate footwear. Walking along the sandy beach in your running shoes probably isn’t the best plan. Instead, throw a pair of water shoes or flip flops into your bag. These types of shoes can easily be removed when walking along the beach, and if they get wet, they dry extremely fast.

A Trusty Beach Bag

If you are staying at a large hotel or resort, then you may find you have quite the trek from your room to the pool, beach, and on-site restaurants. With that in mind, a beach bag or knapsack is essential. You’ll be able to throw things such as your hat, sunscreen, towel, beach cover-up, a book, a bottle of water, etc. all in the bag and easily tote it around with you.

Prepare for Cooler Nights

The Caribbean is well-known for its hot sunny days, but during the evening hours the temperature can feel cooler. With that in mind you want to be prepared and have a light sweater or jacket, a pair of pants, and a long-sleeved shirt just in case.

Be Fully Prepared

These items will help to ensure you are fully prepared to enjoy your trip and make memories that last a lifetime.
