Bob Mims Memphis Talks About Ways To Tackle Community Crime

They say that there are only a few things certain in life but in truth, crime would be one of them. The fact that an area such as Louisville is still affected by crime tells its own story – and shows that it’s not going away.

While it might not go away permanently, there are at least things that can be done to make it more difficult for criminals in a community. This is something that Bob Mims Memphis has worked particularly hard on, and his work has at least resulted in the arrest of a number of criminals for stealing in his area near the golf course in Memphis.

Bearing this in mind, we have tapped into the knowledge of Mims and discovered some of his most recommended ways to boost security in a community.

Make lighting high on your priorities

It sounds almost too simple to be true. It doesn’t matter whether it’s in the middle of August or February, there will be points in the day where darkness falls and this is the prime time for criminals to prosper. After all, with no light, they are effectively hiding all of their actions.

It’s for this reason that good lighting is absolutely paramount. Around entrances to properties, there should always be a light, while streets should never be left in darkness for the same reason. It’s a simple approach, but one that has worked immensely well in countless locations around the world.

Consider renting your parking spaces

This is a suggestion which isn’t quite as mainstream as others we have touched upon, but over recent times it’s something that is being enforced more often.

If you were to look over the streets of Louisville during the day, it would quickly become apparent that there are very few cars out there. This is obviously because during daytime hours, most people are at work.

Well, this tends to present an excellent opportunity for thieves. They are quickly able to see that “nobody is at home”, and act accordingly. Usually, this means they steal high-value items like golf clubs from houses – often targeting multiple ones at the same time.

As such, one way which people have devised to get around this issue is to rent out their car parking spaces. This immediately makes anyone passing by think that a home is occupied, and the chances of a crime occurring drop significantly.

CCTV is still in fashion

The last suggestion on our list relates to surveillance. It might be one of the oldest tricks in the book, but there’s a good reason why it’s still going strong. It works very well and even the sight of a camera is sufficient to put off a would-be criminal from making their move.

This is a tactic that has been deployed in a lot of Memphis over the last few years. A lot of the time these cameras are connected to real-time crime centers, which makes their use even more effective.
