9 Expert Tips On How To Have The Perfect Skin

Who doesn’t want their skin to be glowing, flawless, and youthful? That’s what most ads for new skin products coming out every day hint at, but can they really deliver on that promise. With so many products coming out and so many conflicting pieces of advice available online, it might be hard to know what’s good for our skin and what’s not.

We all know the basics – get enough rest, drink a lot of water, maintain proper hygiene. But is that really all there is to it? According to the experts at DermRefine, far from it. They were kind enough to put together a list of tips that can help us have the dream skin we only seem to see in commercials. Here’s what they had to say.

Make Sure You Use The Right Cleanser

Make sure to use a benzoyl peroxide wash or a salicylic gel if you struggle with acne or oily skin. If your skin is mature and dry, opt-in for a milky cleanser or glycolic. If you’re struggling with melisma or brown spots, get an alpha hydroxyl acid cleanser that has a brightening effect on the skin.

Don’t Overuse Skin Products

Avoid using multiple products for your skin or layering a few of them. This can really damage the skin, clog the pores and cause a lot of breakouts that will damage your skin.

Moisturize 24/7

Moisturizing your skin should not be reserved for the day. Ideally, you want to moisturize in the morning, after your shower, as well as in the evening, before going to bed. Make sure to avoid perfumed moisturizers and make sure they are gentle enough so you can use them every day.

Avoid Touching Your Face

It can be very difficult to get rid of old habits, such as touching your hair or your face. However, this habit can be really harmful to our skin as the bacteria we come into contact with every day can cause a lot of breakouts on our face, which are known to increase wrinkles and lead to scarring. Not to mention it puts us at risk of various infections and viruses.

Double Down On Hydration

Make sure both your skin and your body are hydrated. The more dehydrated you are, the less radiant and saggier your skin becomes. Make sure you use skin products with a hydrating formula and drink enough water during the day, at least 3 liters.

Avoid Exposure To Heat

This rule does not only apply to the sunlight but to various artificial heat sources such as fireplaces or hair dryers. They can lead to inflammations and ultimately collagen breakdown. Make sure you stay a safe distance from the heat whenever possible, at least ten feet.

Wear Your Sunscreen, Rain or Shine

A lot of people use sunscreen only during their vacation, completely forgetting the other 350 days of the year. However, we need to protect our skin from the dangerous UV rays even when we’re flying, driving, or just going shopping. Make sure you use a reliable SPF 30 sunscreen and that you reapply it every two hours.

Use Vitamins For Your Skin As Well

There are a lot of benefits to getting the right vitamins both inside and outside of your body. There are serums available containing vitamins that can do wonders for our skin, such as Vitamin C serum. They can protect our skin from sun damage. Apply the vitamin serums after cleansing so your skin absorbs the most of them.

Mind Your Diet

Make sure you are getting the right nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids that are necessary to retain moisture. You can get this nutrient from flax seeds, various nuts, and fish. This will help your skin retain moisture and look healthier. Also, make sure to avoid foods with a high glycemic index.
